i first met desirae when i was twelve. entering into the big wide world of young women's is the most terrifying thing a self-conscious, friendless, twelve year old can do. but i needn't be scared. for i had desirae.
from the moment i stepped into the glamorous world of the 19th ward young women's, i knew i was in good hands. desirae had this awesome mixture of cool, hip, funny, young, very motherly thing going on. she knew how to make you laugh when you were having the worst day of your life, but she also knew how to cry with you and make you feel better.
over the years, desirae has been a rock in my life. she's one of those
words can't even explain how much desirae has done for me.
she's made me who i am today.
on friday, desirae found out that God had different plans for her next year. i ask for your prayers. i ask for you to pray for this wonderful woman, that she will know of the great love she has surrounding her and supporting her. i ask you to pray that she will feel of God's love for her, always. even on her gloomiest days. i ask you to pray for her family, that they will be comforted throughout the next months.
desirae, i love you more than i love cheetos and mayonnaise.
and that's sayin' somethin'.

Anna- you are truly amazing you know that? I am so blessed to have you in my life. I really don't feel that I can be categorized as a hero- but I will take it! ;)
